In 2011, we went to Cincinnati, Ohio, for a missions trip in the inner city. This year, the very youth we worked with last year came to us to serve with us in Garrett County!

Youth Pastor Gordon Haven brought five of his youth (all young ladies) from River of Life Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Oakland. They arrived around 1:00 A.M. Friday morning in the City Gospel Mission van.

The complete youth team from both churches.

Our lodging area was the floor of the sanctuary (girls) and the floor of Promiseland (guys).

The outdoor canopy was our “dining hall.”

One of our first projects was the cleaning of a local home which included lawn maintenance, patio sweeping, mopping, general cleaning and washing windows.

A simultaneous cleaning effort was done at DHC to help the church prepare for upcoming renovation work.

That evening was spent on a hayride which included a picnic and bonfire.

Sunday morning was devoted to time together is worship with the people of DHC.

On Sunday evening we hosted our weekly “Inside-Out” youth group gathering, complete with a picnic!

The meal was followed by an intense game of “nine-square,” a fast-moving expansion of the traditional four-square game.

On our last work day, we worked with the Maryland State Parks blazing trails and doing trail cleaning.

On Monday and Tuesday evenings, we provided assistance with the community Vacation Bible Blitz program.
